Cooking Class - British Bliss

Thursday December 5, 2019, 6pm

There are some really tasty plant-based versions of traditional British food. We will be making a couple that I have fallen in love with - one is a dessert called mincemeat pie or tarts. I first had these as a child in Malawi, Africa and they made a huge, flavorful impression. I have found a whole food crust that works great - so no added oil.  You will love it!  These are a British Christmas tradition. Maybe you will be inspired to create a new Christmas tradition in your home!

Update 9/16/19 - I'm so excited to announce that Katy Bean from Bean & Pie will be teaching us how to make a plant-based pot pie!  Thank you Katy!!  www.beanandpie.com

Dinner will follow the demonstrations so you can try all of the dishes you just learned about.   The class is for practical application in daily life, it is not a gourmet cooking class.  All classes are plant-based and whole-food oriented.  Please pre-register by December 1. Space is limited.

Cooking Class - Italian Amore

Thursday February 6, 2020

I was fortunate enough to spend a couple of weeks in Italy and had one of the best meals ever in Florence sitting in a piazza. It was my pre-health conscious days and I had gnocchi with a glorious creamy cheese sauce. I would eat it again if I had the chance - cheese and all. Shh...don't tell anyone! Almost everyone loves Italian food, and for good reason.  Delicious tomato sauces, cheeses and herbs.  Join us as we make some less known Italian dishes that are bursting with flavor and re-imagined to be healthier, but still oh, so tasty!

Update 10/15/19 - My friend Sherry Robinson will be making a creamy chocolate mousse based on aquafaba.  You don't want to miss this!

Cooking Class - Indian Delights

Thursday March 5, 2020

I spent a month working in India - in little tiny towns doing surveillance for polio disease. Each day I would travel with a local physician and our driver. Each day they would share the humble food their wives had prepared for them that day.  I fell in love with the cabbage, lentils and flat breads they graciously shared with me.  Sometimes we stopped at roadside eateries. I once ate a delicious snack of deep fried fritters of chilis, onions, cilantro and some kind of ground up bean in a bowl made of a banana leaf... somewhere in the middle of India (literally!). For this class we will recreate some of my favorite foods and I hope you will learn to love them as much as I do.

10/21/19 - Update!  I'm sooo excited!! My friend, and the amazing Chef Jamie Aquino will be cooking for this class!

Cooking Class - Mediterranean

Thursday April 2, 2020

I LOVE Mediterranean foods. There are so many variations on similar dishes from Greece, Turkey, the Middle East,...All cooking classes are hard to narrow down what to make, but Mediterranean is REALLY hard for me. I first tried Syrian food as a child and I thought it was some of the best food I had ever had. We lived in Africa and had been invited to the Syrian Ambassador's house. The flavors were so different and fresh. I had several other pleasant run-ins with Middle Eastern and Mediterranean foods over the years and then was sent to work for a few weeks in East Jerusalem and the West Bank and my love affair was sealed.  So many wonderful flavors. I hope you can join us as we explore some simple but elegant dishes that I'm sure will become family favorites.

Thursday May 7, 2020

I fell in love with Thai food while studying for my Master's in Southern California.  Where had it been all my life!?  I had to learn to make it after I moved away from my favorite restaurant.  Join us as we explore the delicious world of garlic, ginger, coconut and so many delectable seasonings that are found in Thai food. Along with some main dishes, we will be making a fish-less 'fish sauce' which is a key ingredient to many Thai dishes.

Dinner will follow the demonstrations so you can try all of the dishes you just learned about.   The class is for practical application in daily life, it is not a gourmet cooking class.  All classes are plant-based and whole-food oriented.

Cooking Class - Savory Spain

Thursday June 4, 2020

Confession. I have never been to Spain.  But I fell in love with a vegetarian paella that a chef was happy to whip up for me at an authentic Spanish restaurant in Los Angeles. Los Angeles is like it's own world of food...just sayin'.  I have played around with additional recipes from Spain and some of them are just too good not to share. So we will be making a paella and a couple of other dishes that I'm sure you will enjoy.

Dinner will follow the demonstrations so you can try all of the dishes you just learned about.   The class is for practical application in daily life, it is not a gourmet cooking class.  All classes are plant-based and whole-food oriented.
